whistle stop cafe
june 07, 2008
Join us as we travel to Julliette, Ga., we will
enjoy Lunch (included) at THE WHISTLE STOP CAFÉ. The store
played a major role as "The Whistle Stop Cafe". After the
filming, Robert Williams, who had inherited the building,
decided to make it into a real cafe and formed a partnership
with friend Jerie Lynn Williams. Together they started the
"Original Whistle Stop Cafe." The store was probably one of
the last of its kind that delivered the groceries and also
allowed folks to "charge" them; keeping a running tab. An
antique file system loaded with old yellow tickets from the
past along with the meat block, cash register, meat scales,
wood heater, safe, and other smaller items remain in the cafe
today. After Lunch, we will browse the city before we depart
and travel to JARRELL PLANTATION HISTORIC SITE.

Barter theater

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"
We journey to Abingdon, Virginia and visit the
MARTHA WASHINGTON INN for Lunch. Originally built in 1832 as a
private residence by a Virginia General, The Martha Washington
Inn has seen many different uses. From private residence it
evolved into a finishing school for young ladies. When the
armies of the Civil War battled in and around Abingdon, the
building served as a hospital for wounded soldiers, and romantic
stories of nurses and soldiers still endure to this day. After
the Civil War, The Martha became a women’s college and today is
an elegant hotel, paying homage to its gracious Southern roots
and enduring historic legacy. After Lunch, we will depart for
BARTER THEATER for an afternoon matinee featuring Disney’s
“Beauty and the Beast”. A Family Friendly Experience of
Broadway’s biggest hit family musicals. Step into the enchanted
of Disney’s modern musical theatre classic with Belle, the Beast
and all of their magical friends as they discover the value of
people’s inner beauty.

Motorcoach Transportation * Barter Theater performance of
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” * 1 Lunch at Martha Washington
